Buzz 04:40
You say you're never alone But you are never alone But you are never alone But you are never alone And I wasn’t missing anything I wasn’t losing out on a damn thing Is there a small red pill that you could bring? To calm my nerves, it’s just the thing I need Get a buzz in my head A buzz in my head, so calm A buzz in my head, that’s all And I’m always on the phone When you are on the phone And you’re always on the phone So I am on the phone And I wasn’t missing anything I wasn’t losing out on a goddamn thing Everyone’s right here on this tiny screen To pass the time, it’s just the thing I need Get a buzz in my head A buzz in my head, have a ball A buzz in my head, that’s all

Late night cyborg Looking out at the time lapse in slo-mo Looking out at the sideshow creepshow Looking at how the gale force winds blow Looking out through the glass pane At the sheets of rain Flowing down the drain He must be an introvert Ask how come every bird flies right into the dirt Late night cyborg Looking out through the corridors of closed doors Looking out at the statues of failed wars Looking out through the glass pane At the sheets of rain Flowing down the lane He must be a serious flirt Ask how come every bird flies right into the dirt Late night sentry Looking out at the churning dark sea Looking at how they gaslight you and me Looking out at “The Way Things Ought to Be” Looking out through the glass pane At the chiseled landscape Crumbling into the waves The context is truly absurd when you see That he’s been repairing our birds Ask how come every bird flies right into the dirt

So you’re off to Southeast Asia Put me in your suitcase, take me with you! Sure we could fly together But the cabin pressure would turn me blue You can throw me in the bag check And know that I’ll be laughing the whole flight through! And when we land As we planned I will be on my way You’ll go your own way too I tried my best to stay But I did not know how Sorry I let you down But listen, maybe I can stay in the caves near Vientiane And you can stay in town Cause you know I hate to travel with other people They run me down And if they’d like to swim, then for the sake of opposition I would like to drown That was a joke But still I dream I’m falling deep into your eyes Until I wanna scream It’s like a pitch black sky Reaching out for me As if I’m out of time And so I continue to walk alone In the morning dew And if I don’t see you on the flight back Happy trails to you! And when we land As we planned I will be on my way You’ll go your own way too I tried my best to stay But I did not know how And so I let you down Inside the photograph You try to make me laugh But it’s an anxious cry I fall into your eyes Until I wanna scream It’s like a pitch black sky Reaching out for me As if I’m out of time And that’s the story

Operator Annie, connect me to a psychic line Operator Annie, connect me to a psychic line She said, “If you’ve got that kinda money I’ve got a pal in a bit of a bind” “He’s got substantial assets stuck in a Grand Cayman vault He’s too broke to withdraw them, you know it really wasn’t his fault But if you wire him all of the bank fees, He’ll pay you a hundred-fold by default” What a haul! So Annie patched me through to the psychic after I executed the trade A raspy voice came on and said Stay away from psychics, Annie’s pal, and the PR firm I had just paid To help me release an album Needless to say I was rather dismayed I guess I misunderstood them When they promised me I would get played

Emerging from the valley I came upon a mountain Tallest one that I ever did see And it looms there in the distance Everyone must climb it Or take the cable car and pay the fee The cable car is rising And I’m still in the foothills Overhead I hear it passing me But the foothills turn to pillows The river is a blanket Winding through a valley of cold sheets And I realize that I’m dreaming Cause I’m in my apartment And in the foothills simultaneously Well, I don’t know if I can even tell the difference Between the bed and the ground No sense of any elevation What is up as well as what is down The cable car is rising And I am peeking over Looking down on myself half-asleep Emerging from the valley I came upon a mountain Tallest one that I ever did see And it looms there in the distance Everyone must climb it Or take the cable car and pay the fee But it was just a fever vision Filled with joy and terror Very far from my reality Well, I don’t know if I can even tell the difference Between the bed and the ground No sense of any elevation What is up as well as what is down Are we heading to the mountaintop Or heading down to the sea? Was I ever in the cable car? Was I ever even in the valley?
